Easton Biography and Cast List
RICHARD
EASTON (Benjamin Franklin)
Tony Award Winning Actor
With
a distinguished career spanning more than 50 years, Richard Easton
is a veteran actor of both stage and screen. He is well known to
Broadway audiences from his recent role in Noises Off and
his award-winning portrayal of A.E. Housman in Tom Stoppards
The Invention of Love, which earned him a Tony, Outer Critics
Circle and Drama Desk Award in 2001. Easton debuted on Broadway
in 1957 and was a founding member, alongside Ellis Rabb and Rosemary
Harris, of the APA Repertory Company at Broadways Lyceum Theatre
in 1960 and returned to APA for the 1967-9 seasons. In addition
to major roles in contemporary theatre, Easton is probably best
known for his Shakespearean work, having played in and directed
productions of the Bards work internationally. His roles have
included Hamlet, Macbeth, Romeo, Brutus in Julius Caesar
and Henry IV, among many others. Easton has performed with the Royal
Shakespeare Company and Kenneth Branaghs Renaissance Company
and tours with productions throughout the U.S., U.K., Holland and
Sweden.
Easton
has made television appearances on Frasier and LA Law
in America, and appeared in the U.K. in the long-running BBC
series, The Brothers. He has also appeared in feature films, including
Kenneth Branaghs Henry V and Dead Again as well
as Finding Forester.
