Adrianna, VA | How many?
How many different forests are in the United States?

DragonflyTV | How many?
Scientists group all forests into three main categories: a) boreal forests; b) deciduous forests; c) rainforests. The boreal forests are those where the growing season is comparatively short, with cold winters. These forests typically have large numbers of pine trees. Deciduous forests are found in warmer climates, and have mostly deciduous trees, like maple, elm or oak. Rainforests are in the tropical areas, and are further classified into several specific types. The U.S. has over 100 National Forests, but of course there are many more forested areas than that.
