Maggie,

Actually, the longest stretch of river that is not diverted or dammed
is the Salmon River of Idaho!
Cecelia
and Francesco, 9, MN | Longest
river?
We were watching your show this morning and you asked the question
"What is the longest river in the USA?". Your show gave
the answer that it is the Mississippi. However, the longest river
in the USA is actually the Missouri River. Just thought we'd let
you know.

Good work, Cecelia and Francesco!. You're right, the longest
river is the Missourri. The largest river (meaning, it has
the greatest water flow) is the Mississippi. Sometimes, both rivers
are grouped into the Mississippi-Missouri System, which is certainly
the longest in the US, and one of the longest in the world! The
question was misleading the way it was written. Thanks for watching
the show, and paying such close attention!

Who decides if a section of rapids is class 1 or class 3?
DragonflyTV | Rating
a rapids response
The American Whitewater Affiliation classifies rapids by using a
complex mathematical equation. They multiply the logarithm of the
gradient in feet per mile by the logarithm of the flow in cubic
feet per second and subtract one.
