I'm doing a project on the moon crator "plato" and I was
wondering if you could give me some information on it or tell me
where I can find it.

Craters
Hey i'm doing a big science project and i need some websites with
pitures of craters on the moon! Help me! And did asteroids cause
these craters?
Rashelle,
PA | Moon Craters
i think that moon craters are little holes in the moon that were
made by bombs that landed there
Frank,
AZ | Moon Craters
There are many theories as to how the earth got here, but the most
widely accepted is the big bang theory. It says that all matter
was originally condensed into a tiny sphere smaller than a period.
It kept getting smaller and smaller untill it was so dense, it exploded
violently rocketing matter in all directions. According to the theory,
earth is a chunk of that matter. It just happened to have the perfect
conditions for life. The earth and other objects in space are, in
fact, continuing to move outwards from the force of the explosion.
According to the theory, eventuually the matter will stop moving
outwards, and instead, start going backwards again and getting packed
into a small point of matter again. And thus, the cycle infinately
loops.

I like to wach your show. I whant to no how did the earth get here.

mooncraters?
Can you tell me something about mooncraters THANK YOU
Samantha, 12, KY | What
are Moon Craters
I think that teachers should give you more information on what they
are. When you are doing an esay like i am and can't think of what
they are from the top of your head.
DragonflyTV | What
are Moon Craters response
There's lots of great information about Moon Craters below...don't
forget to go to the scrapbook
area of the DragonflyTV Web site.

Bethany,
10, AB | 4 craters
What are the 4 craters of the moon?
DragonflyTV | 4 craters reponse
On our Web site you can see images of four cool craters: Aristotles,
Clavius, Fracastorius, and Proclus. Look at http://pbskids.org/dragonflytv/scrapbook.html.
Check with your science teacher, or at a science museum, to find
a map of all the craters on the moon... there are dozens of 'em!

have you ever wondered how the ctraters were formed? i wish i knew
but i suppose that we will maybe never know. I wish that i could
go into space it would be great floating almost lifelessly in space
with nothing but the blackened environment around you extending
into the depths of space. well c ya lata' V!

Colby,

i think that the moon is cool.

Daniel, 5, OR | Appearance
of moon
How come the moon looks super big when it comes up and looks smaller
later?
DragonflyTV
| Appearance of moon
response
There's quite a bit of confusion about this question. Some people
claim that the way the moonlight travels through the atmosphere
at moonrise makes a "magnifying glass" effect, which goes
away when the moon is high overhead. However, any effects of this
kind would actually make the moon appear smaller at moonrise,
not larger. The most convincing explanation is that it is merely
an illusion, much like those visual tricks where two arrows are
actually the same length, even though one looks longer because of
what is drawn around it. To our eyes, the moon looks bigger at moonro\ise
because of what is around it (trees, buildings, etc.) When the moon
is high over head, those references aren't around, and the moon
appears smaller to us.

DragonflyTV | Moon craters
Have you ever noticed that moon craters seem to "go flat"
when the moon is full? You can usually get the best view of craters
during quarter and crescent moons, when the sun casts shadows across
the moon's surface. Try looking at them with a telescope or binoculars,
and even make your own drawings of what you see. That's how Galileo
got started!

Krista, 9, Alabama | Are
we there yet?

Denise, 10, Nevada | Trip

A rocket journey from the earth to the moon and back takes about
6 days.
