From what i have reasearched horses are never mean unless they have been abused by a person or if they are annoyed or uncomfortable withe what you or the owner is doing. I found out that a horse will give you signs is they are annoyed at what you are doing by snaping at you or swating you with their tail.

I enjoy reserching all different types of animals and insects (although my parents don't like it). Did you know that when the sun starts to go down, if you cut of a firefly's light, it will keep glowing? My cousin Chelsea and I wrote on the sidewalk with a firefly light and it was neat to watch our pictures and writing glow (the glowing lasts for about 10-20 seconds.).

I read the message "horses can't sit" and is is very untrue. I have been working with and trtaining horses for 9 years and they can sit, some horses just like to sit down for pleasure. But it is true, the horses legs do not cause it any trouble when sitting down, and unless it has a medical problem, any horse can sit down!

It's good of you to be paying such close attention. It's tricky to do water analysis of the kind you are interested in. Usually it takes a trained environmental chemist. I'd encourage to talk to your local Department of Natural Resources office or similar agency, and alert them to your concern. Let's hope your river remains healthy for all creatures!
