When I watch animal shows, I notice otters like to hang out together.
Do otters huddle together to keep warm?

To Britta - No Otters do not huddle together to keep warm, they
have special waterproof fur that retains heat and doesn't let the
cold in. Underneath their fur is a layer of fat to keep them warm
as well. When you see otters together like that, it is because they
live in family groups. :)

Maybe they do when they come out of the water, but I don’t
think they could huddle when they’re swimming.

I think that Otter's huddle together to keep warm, because if they
don't keep warm then they would be weak and other animils might
eat them like killer whales.

are thirteen varieties of otter, the smallest being the Oriental
small clawed otter. It's total length (including its tail) is not
more than 95 cm, or about 37 inches. By comparison, the North American
river otter can grow to 150 cm (59 inches), and the giant otter
can be 180 cm (71 cm).

In Ohio, the Toledo
Zoo has an otter exhibit in the African Savanna portion of the
zoo. In the Cincinnati
Zoo and Botanical Garden, they have a lovely river otter exhibit.
The Cleveland
Metroparks Zoo has an exhibit, and an otter adoption programl.

We have some at our zoo, but I don’t know where they live in
the wild. In the ocean, I think.

Otters live in many places around the world. Some otters live in
the ocean, others live in frsh water. Many of the otters seen along
the coastal US are actually river otters (they're very adaptable!).
Off California you can see sea otters!
