  Satellites

Alec, 8, TX | Satellite speed
how fast can they fly??

DragonflyTV | Satellite speed
Satellites don't fly, exactly, but they do have to travel fast in order to stay in orbit. If the satellite were about 300 miles above the Earth, it's orbit speed would be about 17,000 miles per hour! However, if you get to an altitude of about 22,000 miles, it only has to travel at 6,700 miles per hour. This puts the satellite into a so-called stationary orbit, where it stays over the same part of the planet all the time, once you get it orbiting the same direction as the planet rotates.

how do you get picshrs from them?
