Gov. Ventura in Aurora
He met today with union workers from LTV Steel. The plant announced about two weeks ago that it will close in the next year. 1,400 people will lose their jobs. Today, Ventura announced several specific policy measures the state will take, Mary Lahammer reports. Plus... Kittson County looks to the future and live music from Maurice Jaycox and Friends.

...from the studios at PBS eight in Duluth, here comes NewsNight. Jim Neumann hosts a studio discussion about the closing of LTV Steel in Hoyt Lakes. Then we talk to Claudie Washington, president of the Duluth branch of the NAACP, and Michael Fedo, author of "The Lynchings in Duluth". 80 years ago tomorrow, three young black men were lynched by a mob in Duluth. Claudie and Michael will look back upon this tragedy.

The Vice President is in town for two days. He will visit with - who else? - Governor Ventura, as well as local labor and a local school.

The state of emergency has been lifted, but the Red River Valley is still recovering from the flood. Fargo Mayor Bruce Furness and Moorhead Mayor Morrie Lanning fill us in on the heavy rains, damage and the outlook.
