A taxing question
NewsNight's political reporter, Mary Lahammer will report the puzzle of who is going to get what is becoming a bit more clear. Who are the winners? Who are the losers?

April deadline
April 30th is the deadline for immigrants in Minnesota to file for amnesty. Ken Stone traveled to Guanajuato, Mexico to talk to some folks about the lure of America and he'll follow up by discussing the so called 'life act' with Jorge Saavedra the Chief Legal Officer at Centro Legal in St. Paul.

Meteorological soothsayer
We all know that April showers bring may showers, so why did it snow in the Twin Cities this morning? Our favorite predictor of the unpredictable, Bruce Watson, will join us in studio and give us a heads up as to what to expect during the rest of spring and summer.

Our political reporter, Mary Lahammer, will be reporting on the events of the day live from the Capitol. She'll be covering marijuana for medical use, the 3/16 of one percent constitutional amendment and abortion legislation.

What are the northern lights and why are they so prevalent right now? University of Minnesota physics professor, Bob Lysak, will join Lou Harvin on the set to answer questions about the Aurora Borealis.

NewsNight Minnesota's political reporter, Mary Lahammer, interviews Governor Ventura. Tonight we'll give you extended sound which includes the Governor's opinions about concealed weapons, China, medicinal marijuana and his changing strategies.

"American High" debuts tonight on PBS stations nation-wide. Tonight we will talk to the Vice President of National Productions at Twin Cities Public Television, Gerry Richman. He will clue us in on what to expect.

Ken Stone caught up with actor and filmmaker Tim Roth. The two of them discussed Roth's latest film, "The War Zone". The film has been both acclaimed and criticized for the way Roth takes on the issue of incest.

...Koch Refinery has teamed up with an environmental group who will keep tabs on how they're treating the environment. NewsNight's Lou Harvin caught up with Koch and found out more about this interesting partnership.

Biological technology update
NewsNight welcomes back the Jeff Kahn, the director of the Center for Bio Ethics. Among other things Lou Harvin will ask Jeff about; employers genetically screening their employees and legal euthanasia in the Netherlands.

This is very evident in the Fargo/Moorhead area where Governor Ventura rolled up his sleeves to help hold back the waters of the Red River. Tonight we'll chat with city officials in Moorhead and find out what they expect to happen over the weekend.

Meeting his constituents
U.S. Rep. Jim Ramstad (R-3rd) is in town this week to hold town meetings in Eden Prairie, Minnetonka and Burnsville. NewsNight's Lou Harvin caught up with Rep. Ramstad in South Minneapolis this afternoon and asked him about what he's been doing this year in Washington.

Jim Neumann will talk to Emmett Carson of The Minneapolis Foundation, Superintendent Carol Johnson of the Minneapolis Public Schools and from the St. Paul Public Schools he'll talk with Margo Baines to get the particulars of their long-range plan.

Title IX
Title nine makes it mandatory for colleges and universities to equally fund activities involving men and women. But title nine has not always been in existence. Tonight we'll talk to Mary Jo Kane of the Tucker Center for Research on Women and Girls in Sport about a powerful film depicting the struggles of the Yale Crew Team had gaining acceptance.

Rep. Tim Pawlenty - on his way to announce the formation of an exploratory committee for US Senate - got a call from none other than Vice President Cheney telling him that President Bush would rather he not do that. Extended sound from Pawlenty.

Its not quite over, but officials are quietly and cautiously claiming victory. Tonight an engineer from the Army Corps joins us to address the efforts and concerns of the state's citizens.

First redistricting plan floated
What's the future of Minnesota politics look like? The Republicans released their first plan, based on the Census numbers, of what they'd do with redistricting. Mary Lahammer has the story.

Holocaust Remembrance
The local Jewish community is remembering the Holocaust this week with a series of films, including one made by Minneapolis theater and film director Bain Boehlke. He and Joni Sussman - the child of a Holocaust survivor - join us on the set.

Women and Economics
A new think tank at the U of M wants to motivate women to think about the ways they can become more active in economic decision-making. The Center for True Economic Progress is holding a symposium this weekend and they'll preview it for us tonight.
